Avia Ascend shows you three types of calories burned. Here is how each is calculated.
Resting Calories Burned
Resting Calories are calculated using your Basal Metabolic Rate, which is a scientific formula based on your Age, Weight, and Height. Click here for more information on Basal Metabolic Rate. Warning: You may feel like you're in math class.
Active Calories Burned
Active Calories are calculated in a bit more complicated way. We use a custom scientific formula that considers your steps per mile, stride length, weight, activity level for the day, and number of steps. We've tested it against elite equipment and it's incredibly accurate.
Total Calories Burned
Total Calories is the sum of Resting Calories + Active Calories.
